l) Final exam and graduating

The final exam assesses the candidate's ability to present and discuss a dissertation prepared during the internship, clearly and with a strong mastery of language. The tutor will also act as thesis supervisor, and the dissertation defence will take place in the presence of an exam board made up of 5 teachers.

The dissertation, which must describe the methodologies used and include a critical analysis of the results obtained, can be written in Italian or (with the consent of the Supervisor) in a foreign language and include a summary in Italian.

For each candidate, the Chair of the Exam Board identifies a reviewer who, before the discussion, makes a detailed and complete evaluation of the work carried out and of the report. The supervisor and the reviewer agree on a joint evaluation of the paper and award a mark from 0 to 2 points.

The final exam will be assigned a (qualitative) assessment by the Board and a (quantitative) graduation mark by adding the score from the members of the Board (from 0 to 1 point) and the score (from 0 to 2 points) agreed between the supervisor and reviewer.

This score is added to the value of the basic average (calculated as the weighted average of exam marks, reported in one hundred and tenths), with an increase of 0.33 points for each exam with a score of 30/30 with honours (up to a maximum of 3 points), and 1 bonus point for students who graduate within the time required for completing the degree programme. Added to these are any points deriving from individual training experiences approved by the Academic Board in the form of supernumerary credits, in a quota varying between 2 and 3 points maximum at the discretion of the Exam Board, as reported in the specific section. Participation in international mobility programmes may result in a merit score, of up to a maximum one point.

In the event that the final score exceeds 114/110 and the student presents at least one exam with a mark of 30/30 with honours, the tutor can propose the overall awarding of honours; in the event that the score exceeds 117/110, the tutor him/herself can propose the honours grading. In both cases, the grading must be decided by a unanimous vote of the Exam Board.
